Ecological Freshwater Farming for the Twenty First Century

Aquaculture embraces not only the production of fish and other aquatic species, but also the plants that can provide a source of food.

Developments in modern fish farming techniques have produced an industry, which like some land-based forms of farming, have become highly industrialised and with that intensification, have also become heavily reliant upon resource-hungry inputs.

Over the coming months and years, water is going to become an increasingly important consideration in food production and land use. The sustainable production of food from aquaculture may well become an important integral part of many future farming systems.
